Almost Cookie Time at the Roost

I only work Monday and Tuesday this week, so, I will probably start baking my cookies on Thursday.  I don't like to make them too far in advance because, I have a thing about fresh goodies.  I save cans like Pringles and even my baby formula cans all year to make these.   Most of the time, I just wrap them with wrapping paper and a big bow on top.  For my neighbor and a friend at church, I like to put a little more effort into it and make it special.  Below you will find the one I just wrapped with Christmas paper and the two I decorated for my two special friends.

This is what I started with.

I also had a few embellishments for my little snowman card -- he is so cute.

I used scrapbook paper, a large snowflake punch, and some of my daycare kids glitter (shh, don't tell them - ha ha).

Here is my snowman card.  Three buttons in different sizes, black felt, a little ribbon, and glitter.  I love how he turned out.  I am going to make a couple more for my family gift baskets.

This one is just some Christmas paper cut into triangle trees with buttons and a rhinestone for the topper.

For interest, I used burlap for the trunks.  These tall cans are great for stacking cookies.

I keep scraps of gift wrapping paper from the previous year to do these quick cans.

Here is a felt poinsettia that I got of of Centsational Girls blog (she is amazing by the way).  I was thinking of putting it on top.

I have to be honest.  I don't have any bows!!  All of my bows from last year got a lot little smashed.  I did put bows on one of my many lists.  I ended up gluing some rosettes on the top (I think I like the bow better).  These are really inexpensive and you can have the kids help wrap them with gift wrap.  The little short formula can is great for popcorn and chex mix things.

Little Chicks Gingerbread Houses

My little chicks had a blast with Gingerbread Houses today.   It's always a mess, but, they have a great time.  I just used little school lunch milk cartons (I have my connections), gaham crackers, frosting (I had white and a little green), assorted candies and waffle pretzels make cool windows.   Here they are:

Just a little messy and a whole lot of sugar (the kids are outside running and screaming -- woo hoo).

Here are my girls - SO much fun.

If you haven't done it with your kids, you gotta try it.  I just let them create (I may help with the structure a little).

Enjoy.

Christmas Canister Set

Remember my garage sale finds here?  I found these great white canisters.  I jumped on the number band wagon and numbered all four of them.  For Christmas, I wanted something a little more festive, so, I bought some pretty Martha Stewart stickers at Michael's and this is what I cam up with.

I love blue and white.

I only had three of the larger snowflake rings for the larger canisters.

For the smallest one, I just used the single snowflakes and love the way it came out.

I filled them up with fresh flour, sugar, brown sugar, and ........

Coffee of course.  Now I am ready for my cookie baking day.

I think it really brightened my coffee station.

Don't you love poinsettias?  I even love the fake ones.

Happy Baking Rhonda.

Hole Punch Christmas Tree

This is a cute idea for a picture, card or even a gift tag.

Find two shades of green paper and punch away.  I used three different sizes.  I also used a few white punches.

Cut your background green to fit whatever project you choose and lightly draw a Christmas tree form.

I used a glue stick and started sticking my punches here and there.

I tied a red bow and placed it on the bottom.

I painted and distressed a thrift store frame and here it is.....  I don't know where I am going to put it yet, and, it might end up in someones Christmas basket.

Merry Crafting.

Glowing Christmas Floral Arrgangement

I love candles all year (especially scented ones), but, at Christmas, they just make everything warm and beautiful.  Here is what I came up with for my dining room table:

I just used things I had around the house (all but the floral picks).  I used Spanish Moss instead of floral moss.

I found the floral picks at Wal-Mart.  I love Wal-Mart, and they were only $3.00.

Using floral thingies (I don't know the technical term - ha ha),

arrange your votive holders.  I got mine last year at Michael's after Thanksgiving.  I don't remember the price, but, I know they were dirt cheap.

Glue the floral thingies down after you get them arranged the way you like.

Add a few more thingies on the other side of the basket for your floral picks.

Insert your floral picks.

After you get everything the way you like it, add the moss.

May your Christmas be warm and glowing.
