And the EYE's have it...

Wow, I can't believe I have a Halloween post in September.  This is a first for me.  I am usually trailing in around the second week of October.  I even have a project in the works...

This is my eyeball wreath.  I love body parts at Halloween.  Nothing says Halloween like body parts.

I purchased my eyeballs from The Dollar Tree.  I know they had them for a couple of years.  I bought one pack for my college age kids to use at a Halloween Party.  They were a little creepy cool, so, I had to get a couple three bags for me.

I used a a green floral foam wreath from The Dollar Tree.  I also used them for a candy corn wreath one year.  You can see that here.

I covered it with some Halloween Ribbon.

Then, I just started to hot glue the eyeballs on.

I liked the way it looked, but, you could see the ribbon through some holes.

I LOVE Spanish Moss.  The effect is the best.  I use it on EVERYTHING.  After filling in all the holes, I added a few spiders and called it good.

Well, I think the Eye's have it,
and, here's looking at you kid.  This could go on forever, so, I will close with a thank you so much for stopping by.

My Barnwood Monogram

Boy, is fall coming fast?  Well, at least for some.  I always think it is so strange to start seeing Halloween stuff and even some Christmas stuff in August.  I live in Arizona, and it is H O T.  It is still very hot.  So Hot.  Did I say HOT.  My daughter took the summer off and didn't play softball.  She just started with a new team and is loving it and football is gearing up for my son.  My husband loves this time of year because of the sports (the games are sooo hot), and my son is a Senior this year, so he is very excited for his last High School football season.  I can't believe my babies are in the 11th and 12th grade.  That just makes me old.  Old and Hot and not the good Hot either.  Ok, I need an icy diet Dr. Pepper now.  Well, I am still crafting.  I hate to say that I am not cooking as much, just fast old recipes that no one would want.  My son did tell me that he missed me blogging because I cooked a lot more - he he.  We will try to do it again soon.  I made this Monogram Sign back in July and absolutely love it.  I thought I would share it with you today.

I got this awesome wooden sign thing at Michael's.  I love the pallet look.  I got a jig saw for Christmas, and hold on to your bottoms, I even have a few pallets outside.  I am just too lazy and scared to use my saw.  That will be a must learn  for this fall.  Anyway, I saw this at Michael's and thought it would make a cute sign.

They also had these awesome colored stains.  I had to have a couple, and thought this would be the perfect little project to try them out.

This was my first draft.  I wasn't too happy with it though.  I only bought two of the colored stains and used a darker wood stain that I had on hand.  The top board, I just put a little white chalk paint on it.  Not loving it though.

I put a white wash over the darker stain and liked it a little more, but, still not there.  A white wash is taking a little white chalk paint and adding water to it.  I made it really thin and painted a little over the stain.

Now, I found myself back at Michael's buying the red stain for the top.   Now, I am loving it even more.  I bought this cute galvanized "C" first.  I really didn't know what I was going to do with because it was a little small.  My daycare business slows way down in the  summer, so, I have time in the summer but no money.  I really couldn't swing the larger one.  Now look.  It fits perfectly.

I love it.  What do you think?

A Bird House Wreath

When did summer get here?  I really can't complain, living in Arizona, we haven't had too many warm (hot) days.  I can't say the "H" word, because, we all know how warm it really gets - ha ha.  Anyway, I have had this wreath idea in my head for at least a year, maybe two.  I really did have a different picture in my head, but, I like it.

I bought all of these cute bird houses at Michael's about two years ago.  I got them when they went on clearance and bought quite a few.  I just lined them up and shot them with some white paint.

I painted the flat wooden wreath form too.  At first, I just painted the roof.  I used mostly chalk paint.  These are my favorite colors.

But, when I was playing around with them, they looked as if they were missing something.

So, I painted the bottom and about 1/4 of an inch up the sides a dark brown.  Then, I put a little Spanish moss in all the holes.

What do you think?  Looks pretty good huh?  I did this right before school was out when my little ones were out playing.  I just got an extension cord and glued away.

This is what happens when you try to do something with little ones running all around.  I think I had to kiss a couple of boo boo's and one may have required a bandaid.  Oh, I do live in the desert and cactus is a daily thing.  Yes, I had to get my tweezers :-o  The whole round thing I was going for just wasn't quite there???

I brought it in and took them all off, and, started again.

Much better.  I was playing around with a banner, what do you think?  Let me know, thanks.

Hope you are having a round great Monday.

Fun Dollar Store Crafts - Part Two

This is part two.  The Clever Wallet.  I have seen these in organization blogs, and, I haven't seen them until recently.  I had to have one, or two, maybe three?

Again, I just used the stuff I had on hand.  This time I used some Washi Tape I got from Pick Your Plum.  I also used an old book page to make a bird and then outlined it with glitter.

I do get a lot of gift card for a quick thank you and holiday gift.  These are perfect for organizing them.  I don't know if you can tell, but, it has a little mirror in it.  I guess to see out surprised you look when they tell you how much it is - YIKES!

I still like white and burlap, so, this is my favorite.

Yep, I had to have three.  This one, I am just going to put a mustache for my cash.  I think this will be good to stash a little cash in my sports bags.  They are the bags I take to my kids sports events.  I will have a post on them shortly.

Oh, how cute.

Now, what are you waiting for?  Go and get a couple, three or four and alter away.  These are headed for my purse right now.

I hope you enjoyed this fun craft.  Come back soon and see me.

Fun Dollar Store Crafts - Part One

Oh Happy Day!  I love the Dollar Tree.  I was just walking through getting a few things for my little daycare and came across this two amazing products.

I had some keys made for a couple of my kids and needed something to put them on.

Aren't they cute?  I love how they turned out.  I just used the craft supplies I had on hand.

The back opens up, so, I just took the lined paper out and added some scrapbook paper.

The front is recessed a little.  That is where I added some cute pictures from a clip art book by Mod Podge.  I glued them in and added some Mod Podge and let that dry.  I added some embellishments with Glossy Accents.  Oh, I am so sorry for the picture quality.  My camera is MIA so I used my tablet to take them.

The back is just pretty paper.

These are my favorites.  The R is definitely mine - heehee.

I hope you enjoyed this and are ready to go out and alter some twenty cent key chains.  Don't forget to come back for Part Two.

Dollar Tree Decorating

Happy Valentines Day.  Whoops, I missed that one - again.    I woke up this morning thinking I have to post a couple of my projects and realized that I never posted this one.  I was in my garage before Christmas and noticed   this old tool box.  I totally forgot we owned it.  I remember we purchased it in Colorado from a nice man at a yard sale.  Oh my, it must have been at least twenty years ago.  I did have to break it to my husband that I  relocated his nails for this project.

This was my Dollar Tree haul before Valentines Day.  Some pretty white roses (I really fell in love with them), white candles, succulents, pretty rocks, and, fish bowl votive.

I started with some burlap ribbon I got at Walmart for only three dollars.  I wrapped it around the whole thing and tied a big bow.  I really loved how it turned out.

I put my pretty white roses in a mason jar and just popped them in.  I alternated them with a pillar candle that I wrapped with just a little twine,  It was so very inexpensive and turned out  so pretty.  I put a red heart in one of the jars for just a pop of color.

The Dollar Tree always amazes me.  You don't have to spend a lot of money to get an elegant centerpiece.

I'm always a late bloomer, so, I did finally get an assortment of these little guys.  I love succulents I have always wanted terrariums, but, I know I will kill them.  I don't have a green thumb, mine is plastic.

These couldn't be easier.  Just pop them out of that plastic pot and put them into a small fish bowl votive with pretty rocks.

Awwwwe, so pretty.  I get so many compliments on this one.

I did get a few different ones and decided to group them together in a little urn.  I love the way it turned out.

Well, I know this is late, but, I hope this has motivated you to go to the Dollar Tree and do some decorating.  Let me know what you have done, I would love to come over and see.   Have a very Blessed Day.
