My 2015 Winter Entryway Shelf

I can't believe that I started this post the first week of January, and posting it the first day of February.  I truly have such good intentions.  Life is always crazy at the roost..  I used to think life was crazy when my kids were little, but, I had no idea what I was in for.  Now that they are all young adults and teens, and still living at home, I am doing my best to keep my sanity.  I think the Gilmore Girls said it best, "I changed my mind, about all this mom stuff (this is mine), I want to be a Ballerina instead".  I think getting lost in my blog, is just what I need.  I really miss my blog, and doing a few crafts.  With that said, here is where I'm starting, my Entryway Shelf.  It is all decked out for winter.  I am in the process of changing it up for Valentines Day, and wanted to share it with you before  it is gone.  I love the jars and I don't know if I am ready to part with them yet.

Gotta love after Christmas sales.  I got the lighted willow branches at WalMart for really cheap.  All of the white sugared floral clusters were 90% off at Michael's.  The candles are from The Dollar Tree and the jars, from my stash.

The stars were made from a cereal box and a cookie cutter.  I just painted the stars and tiny mason jars with a little white chalk paint.  I put a fuzzy snowflake from the Dollar Tree behind it.

I stamped WINTER right on the stars and tied them on with some twine.  I really love  the way they turned out.   On the left side, I painted a mason jar and Dollar Tree candle stick with the same chalk paint and put a few white clusters in it.

BOO, I'm Back

I've been trying to get into the Halloween Mood, and I haven't been too successful until now.  Not to long ago, Pick your Plumb had some cute Halloween decorations, and, I am always too late to get the cute ones.  The ones that say, "BOO".  So, this is what I came up with instead.

I thought it was kinda cute ;)

I didn't even have to buy anything to make it.  I had a zip bag full of Dollar Store bugs from years past.

I don't know where I got the earthworms though.  I just had a few (three to be exact), but, enough to make this.

I know they are brown, but, they were the only bug that would bend to make my B.

I originally had a couple of big spiders for the O's.  My hubby saw these spiders in a web and told me they would make better O's.  I know there is a crafter burried deep inside that man.

Gotta have a cute flowers, and, a little burlap - ha ha.

Happy Thursday!  I think Thursday is a great day to start blogging again.  I know I have been a human yo yo, but, I have had many obstacles in my family life this past year.  I know I have shared a little with you, but, my blog hasn't been very personable.  I hope I can let you in a little and get to know you on more of a personal level.  I am always 110% going into things, and, I tend to fizzle out after a while.  That has always been a struggle for me.  So, I am going to try to get CONSISTENT this year.  Wow, did I wait until June to make a New Year's resolution???

I am ready to begin.  As you can see by my picture, I have everything I need to start this.  First fun fact about me, I LOVE coffee.  Any kind of coffee -- raw sugar and fat free half and half is my favorite, but, I will drink it black, cold, old, strong, weak, frappuccino's, cappuccino's, lattes, macchiotto's, mocha's, frothed, shot, in, over and through ice cream.  I LOVE coffee.  I don't understand energy drinks when there is coffee, unless it is a coffee Monster.  Those will do in a pinch - ha ha.

I found this awesome sign on clearance at Target.  It is totally me.

So, let's begin.  I would love any advice from you regarding regular posting and how you keep on track.  I look forward to you getting to know me, and most of all, Me getting to know You.

Love Shadow Box

Hi everyone, I just wanted to check in to let you know that I will be returning soon.  I only have one more week of daycare and we will have a little break.  I watch mostly teacher's children so I drop way down in the summer.  I am only open a couple of days of week for crafts and fun.  It also keeps the kids in contact with me so it is not such a shock when school starts again.  I have been wanting to share my shadow box with you for sometime now (since Valentines Day).  I made it for my Red Hutch's Valentine display.  I liked it so much I decided to keep it and hang it it my bedroom.  I still can't believe I got the shadow boxes (I actually have two) from savers for only $1.99 each.  I LOVE them and can hardly wait to fix my second one. 

I did add a little pink to our wedding picture to tie it into the pink heart.  Here is how I made the heart.  I also painted the Love sign to match my black and white vintagey (is that a word?) feel.  It used to be bright pink.

The flowers are from Pick Your Plum and I made the cute burlap rosette.

I got the key for only .50 cents from Micheal's when they had all of their dollar (1.50) items on sale.  I got a few other things and will have a couple of crafts soon.

I even got to use on my clay hearts.  I just tied a little lace and ribbon on.

Grassy Easter Glass Block

I love Spring and Easter.  My husband loves the Fall, don't get me wrong, the Fall is equally beautiful.  Spring is just a time of renewal and rebirth.  I remember when my brother passed away (four years ago he was only 39), my aunt reminded me that John was like a tree in winter dead, but with spring (Jesus in his heart), comes renewal and rebirth in heaven with Jesus.  I instantly felt better.  So, here is to my Cowboy, John, Happy Spring Baby Brother.

I still enjoy my glass block, but, it is getting harder to come up with things to put inside.

This year I decided to fill it with fake grass and Easter Eggs.  This is all I needed.  I cut the grass into two rectangles (it was easier to handle when putting them into the glass).  I then stuck the light through the back of the grass and shoved it in the bottom.  I used the tongs to put the Easter eggs in and fix the lights a little, added a cute bow, and TA DA... done!

Egg-a-Rrific Chalkboard Picture

This is such an easy project and I love the black and blue together.  

Remember this frame?  I used the red one for my Valentine Hanging Hearts.  I love these frames and got them for very little at Michael's, so, I couldn't help myself and purchased five (in different sizes of course).

 This cute little decal, I got at WalMart.  I wanted to use them on my large glass storage containers, but, they didn't want to conform to the rounded surface. 

I just cut some white burlap to fit under the glass and popped the sticker on top.  I tried my hand at a little chalk art, but, I think my kids smudged it a little.  The bigger they are the higher they can reach.

Anyway, have an "egg" cellent day!

Valentines Day / St. Patty's Day at The Roost

Well, here I am again, freaking out because it has been a while since my last post.  I really want to apologize for not being consistent.  I just let life and all it's crazy get in the way.  I can't promise it won't happen again, but, I can promise to try harder.  If you have any tricks to help you keep consistent with your blog, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, share them with me in the comment section.  I would really appreciate it.  Now, a little in my defense, the structure of my daycare has changed a little.  This is the first time in twenty years, that every child attending is the youngest in their family.  All of them are very emotional with a side of crazy tantrums.  Even though I don't have very many kids, I work harder now than I did when I first started this business (please, keep me in your prayers).  So with that said, I wanted to share my Valentine and St. Patty's Day decor with you even though it is very late.

I got these candles for a song after Christmas and  fell in love with them.  They are so gitchy.  They also inspired the candy cane hearts again this year.

This was hanging in the Daycare zone.

Well, that was my Valentine decor.

On to St. Patty's Day.  I really had fun with it this year.  I pulled things from everywhere.  Anything green wasn't safe - ha ha.

This was my favorite grouping.  I love the fuzzy green rocks in the cylinder vase, and, I got these bunnies last year and didn't know what to do with them.
