Grassy Easter Glass Block

I love Spring and Easter.  My husband loves the Fall, don't get me wrong, the Fall is equally beautiful.  Spring is just a time of renewal and rebirth.  I remember when my brother passed away (four years ago he was only 39), my aunt reminded me that John was like a tree in winter dead, but with spring (Jesus in his heart), comes renewal and rebirth in heaven with Jesus.  I instantly felt better.  So, here is to my Cowboy, John, Happy Spring Baby Brother.

I still enjoy my glass block, but, it is getting harder to come up with things to put inside.

This year I decided to fill it with fake grass and Easter Eggs.  This is all I needed.  I cut the grass into two rectangles (it was easier to handle when putting them into the glass).  I then stuck the light through the back of the grass and shoved it in the bottom.  I used the tongs to put the Easter eggs in and fix the lights a little, added a cute bow, and TA DA... done!

Oh Hoppy Day!

2014 Valentine Glass Block

Happy Friday Everyone!  I have been working on my Valentine decorations and wanted to show you my Valentine Glass Block.  I really enjoy my glass block.  I won it at Bunco a few years back, and, use it for every season.

In the morning, I love to turn it on and pour myself a cup of coffee.  The light is just right to sit, enjoy a cup of coffee and pray for my family.

I got my cute lights from Target's dollar spot.

I repurposed my LOVE letters from a previous project,

slapped on a bow and called it Love at first sight - ha ha.

Let me know how your decorations are coming along.

Halloween Glass Block

It's that time again.  Time to decorate my glass block for Halloween.  I think I won my glass block at BUNCO two years ago, and, I have been changing it out ever since.  My favorite place to find the fillers is, of course, The Dollar Store.  I found some pretty purple lights this year -- woo hoo.  I love them, they are so pretty.

I was digging around in one my many junk craft drawers and found a zip bag with these window clings in it.  I remember getting them at The Dollar Store last year.

The ribbon is so pretty and it too came from The Dollar Store.

I love how simple and colorful it is.

I am having the hardest time trying to show you how pretty the purple lights are.

There it is all lit up on my red hutch.

May your day be a batty shade of purple.

Glass Block for Easter - 2013

I think I will be decorated before Easter - Woo Hoo.  On that note, I almost forgot to post my Easter Glass Block.

I was so excited that I learned how to make a quick and easy bow, I thought I would show you.  You start with a pretty ribbon.  I liked this one (the ribbon with wire on each side works best) from the Dollar Store -- where else right?

You figure out how big you want your bow and roll it about five times.  You can tell how big by taking the roll and folding it in half.

Once you have it folded in half, you snip the middle corners

like so.

When you unfold it, it should look like this.

Take a thin piece of ribbon and tie it right in the middle.

Then you just start pulling and plumping the loops.

Pull one loop into the middle and fan the rest around it.  There you have it.  The more you roll it, the fuller the bow.  Easy Peasy.

This year, I found these cute little sparkle eggs at the Dollar tree and cut the loop off.  They were just small enough to fit into the opening -- yeah.

I know you can barely tell, but, I did hang three of the eggs under the bow.  Oh, and do you see the plastic purple egg?  My kids played a trick on me - he he.  Big stinkers (they are definitely not little anymore).

Happy Easter Everyone.

I party here when I want to get down and get funky - ha ha.

2013 Valentine Glass Block

I found another place to put my candy cane heart.

I got the heart table scatter at The Dollar Tree.  One of my parents also got me a few -- yeah.

They also had pretty pink ones.

I love Valentines Day.
XOXO

Christmas Glass Block

Christmas is here, let our glass blocks shine - ha ha.  Let me know if you have done one?  I would love to come and see.

I bought these cute little ornaments at Target.  Target has a lot of cute seasonal decorations for $2.50.  These little jems were just $1.00.  I think I used 4 tubes in a large glass block.

This cute little pick was at Michael's for under $1.00.  I took it apart and only used the pine and birdie.

When it is all lit up, especially at Christmas, I can't help but think, let the light of Jesus shine through you (Jesus is the reason for the season).
