Ribbon, Ribbon, and More Ribbon

I needed ribbon to finish my kids Valentine's this year, and, what a mess they are.  Remember this?  It is still awesome. and, I use it all the
time.

You can see it HERE.  I, however, have a lot more ribbon than storage
places on that rack.

YIKES.  This is what I started with.  A tangle of ribbon and lace.

I gathered up the loose ribbon and taped it onto a toilet paper roll.  For those fly away pieces, I used a hair pin to hold it in place.

Then I sorted all the ribbon by color.  I have a lot of themed ribbon (i.e., Christmas, Halloween, etc.), so, I put that together in a container.  Then, I have some doubles, and, my lace.  I put them in another container.

I tried to put like colors together on a rod.

I got this package at Michael's when I made my Ribbon Rack.  I think they are large sucker sticks.

Those Dowels, fit perfectly through the holes.  I fit four rods in there.

The loose ends of the ribbon, I threaded through the holes on the side of my Dollar Tree container I have had forever.

Put a label on it and sat in on top of the other two bins I have in my laundry room.  I will show more pictures of that after I organize it, yet AGAIN.  My kids always ask me why I have to reorganize the laundry room and the pantry.  My reply is always YOU.........

My ribbon and I are so HAPPY.

Thanks for stopping by.

XOXO

Valentine Decorations and How I Store Them

I am hoping that everybody had a wonderful Valentines Day and felt the love they deserve.  I did, however, I was also very busy.  I don't understand how 2, 3 and 4 year-old's can get so excited.  Their energy level is almost as high as Christmas.  Anyway, this is a little late, especially since I took everything down today.

I love my Cloche.  I got it from Decor Steals.  Decor Steals is so cool.  Please go and check it out.  I have a button located just below on the right side of my blog.  It works like Pick your Plum.

A little pink love bird.

I found them at The Dollar Tree, fell in love, and bought a few.

I got this cutie at Hobby Lobby and paid more that $1.00.  They only had one left.

So, I decided to make one.  I just sprayed it with a light glossy pink.

He is so cute.

The Big Red Hutch.

This cute little picture was made from an old frame (painted it pink), news paper, a heart shaped cookie cutter and a hole punch.

The cone topiary was from last year, and I made the pretty beaded decorative ball for Christmas.  I used one my awesome Styrofoam balls that I got from The Dollar Tree, and simply glued some pretty pink pearls on it.

The Entryway Shelf.

My son Matthew threw this vase on a wheel at school.

Oh, how I love this.  Another Decor Steals item (seriously go check them out).

It is now time to put them away.  I used one of my Decor Steals boxes to pack all my Valentines up and closed it off.

Before I closed it up, I listed all the contents.   Labeled it Storage, Valentine, and numbered it #1.

I put Val #1 on all sides of the box, put it in the attic for storage and filed my index card away.  That way, I can just look at my card to "see" what is in it.  Also, if I change the contents, or, add another box to my Valentine collection, I just change and/or add my index card.  File under Storage, then by Holiday in the file.

I did the same with all my Christmas decorations.  I will eventually get tubs, but for now, boxes work just fine.

See you soon, I am working on my ribbon now.

XOXO

True Confessions of a Messy Chicken

Happy hump day.  Wow, It is already February and the whole month January was lost hiding.  Yep, you heard me, hiding.  Who have I been hiding from?  Well, you silly.  That's right, I said you.  Why, you ask?  Well probably because I think I have you fooled into thinking that I am a little organized, when in all truth, I am one messy chicken.  I want to be organized so bad, but, it has always been a real challenge for me.  I sign up for challenges with such good intentions and when it is time to get to work, I FREAK OUT.  Instead of having the feeling of accountability, I just get so overwhelmed and embarrassed that I have to hide.  I hang my head and go on about my messy business.  Oh, and the excuses -- I have too many kids, my kids are too old and make even bigger messes now, and, my husband doesn't really care if the house looks like this.  So, no more excuses and I am not going to FREAK OUT anymore.  I am going to take it slow (inchworm slow - with a missing half inch slow).  I have been working on my office and will show that latter.  Today, I just have to start with the kitchen.  No more excuses, here I go:

This is the space on the right side of my stove.  I love to cook and have my pinch bowls near by.  It makes me feel a chef on The Food Network - he he.

I got so excited that I started before I took my before pictures.  All three of these containers held cooking utensils.

I sorted all my tools by, plastic, wood, silver and sharp (that's a whole lot of  utensils).

Rats, this also means that I have to clean out my utensil drawer.

I took everything out of my wicker tray.

These are the utensils I decided to keep on my counter.

I have only the utensils that I really use.  I also have my garlic, oils, vinegar and hot sauces.  Look, only one utensil container now - yeah.

I love my pinch bowls.  I have one for coarse salt, pepper and table salt.

I put a few utensils in the drawer, and

I started a box for the utensils I have decided not to keep - more about that later.

I think this is better.  Now, on to the rest of the counter.
