Burlap Photo Board

Hi everyone, I'm back and felling a little better.  I hope all of you are doing well.  I did get one of my many projects completed, but, I really don't know where I am going to put it.  I may use it to display pictures of my daycare (for parents to see in my entry), or, my den to display random family pictures.  I may even use it to display Christmas cards.  Anyway, here it is -- it was very easy to do.

Remember the picture frames?  The smaller one with apples is what I used.
(I am almost finished with the larger frame -- it is so cool)

I painted and distressed the frame to match my other picture frames for the den here.

I stashed the glass in the garage and used the back piece.  I just strayed it with tacky spray (I seriously love this stuff) and attached the burlap right to it.

I trimmed the edges with scissors, and,

put it back together -- ta da....

Then, I picked up some small screw eyes and tiny clothes pins from Walmart.  They were very easy to screw in the side of picture frame.

Once the eyes were in, I just threaded twine through them in a zig zag.  I'm not quite sure I like the zig zag, but, for now, I think it is kinda cheeky.

Of course, I made rosettes with the scraps.

Should I add a rosette to the frame?  Maybe burlap?

Happy crafting.

Den Re-do

After posting the pictures from my den yesterday, I decided to really get started on this project.  I know my weekends are totally full for the next five weeks.  My son's have football and my youngest daughter has tournaments for the next five weeks.  I love to watch her play, but, they are both Saturday and Sunday.  Anyway, I found these frames at the thrift store a while back.

The detail really didn't do anything for me.  I almost passed them up.

The one thing it did have, was that there were four.  My dear hubby keeps telling me that I need to put more pictures of the kids up, so, I snagged them just for that reason.

And, they were only $1.00.

Meet Baxter.  He is in desperate need of a haircut.  He is always willing to help me or just give moral support.  He is so funny and he doesn't talk back - ha ha.

Well, last night I thought I would paint one.

I liked it so much I painted them all.

Including the candle holder.

The one thing I didn't like, is the best part of the painted frame.  I LOVE how it turned out.

After I painted them, I took some sandpaper to them and then some stain.

The effect is just what I was looking for.

I am still not sure if I like the candle holder, but, for only .50??  Maybe for the holidays?

I like how the distressed white looks against my tan wall.  This has really given me a bug.  It may take a month or so, but, I will get it all done.

Thanks for stopping by,
Rhonda

Den Dilemma

I am so blessed, one of my friends has gifted me a sofa.  I am so thrilled because, I didn't see getting one until my own kids are gone (they are so hard on furniture), and I was done doing daycare.

I am having a hard time getting a good picture of it.  Sorry, the lighting is bad.

This is better.

Isn't it pretty -- I am feeling so very blessed right now.  During the day, I cover it with a sheet to protect it from little noses and fingers - ha ha.  Now, behind and on both sides of the windows I have cheap bookcases.  I am thinking of removing them completely.  What do you think?

This was the big green monster before, don't mind the kids, they are playing office.

This is the coordinating chair,  isn't it gross.?  I really want to cover it.  I was thinking of using one of the drop clothes.  I will have to get my sewing skills up first though.  The table next to it used to be in my bedroom.  I use an old desk as a night stand now, and really don't like this one at all.  I am thinking of selling it or painting it or........  Any suggestions?

I once tried decorating it a little western.  You can see the cowboy hat hanging on a horseshoe rack.   But, over the years it has become a catch all for the furniture I really don't love and toys, kids games and TV.

On this wall, I was thinking of doing a board and batten affect with or without a shelf.  Above that, I was thinking of a gallery wall.  I have been picking up frames at garage sales and thrift stores.  I found that red shelf and painted red, HATED it.  It is now in the garage.  Maybe a fresh coat of paint??????

In this picture, you can see how narrow it is.  It's kind of long an narrow.  Hard to arrange furniture.  I really think it was meant to be a bedroom at one time.  I  am hoping to join this century and get a flat screen and cute cabinet soon.  Until then, I am stuck with this set up.  When cleaned up, it's really not that bad.  Any suggestions??????   Anyway, my little office space is in that closet on the right.

I am in the process of re-doing my office space.  I think it will be cute.  Just stay tuned.

Toys out my kazoo............  Any Ideas?????????  I also have to touch up the paint.  The kids through toys and miss the box and love to hit the wall.....
Please help.  I would love any comments on what to do.  This is one of the biggest projects I am going to tackle.  So, here is to re-decorating on the very cheap..... ha ha   I look forward to all your comments.
