A Restfull Day and a Entryway Shelf

Well, we are all back to school and work now.  My older kids start college tomorrow and my younger kids and I have been back for over a week.  This is the first time I have been glad to see it gone and ready to start a new school year.  This is the first day of the rest of our lives.  I have been saying that a lot lately.  I think with all that has happened, and the fact that both of my babies are in High School this year, have had a lot to do with it.  The week before school starts is when my work really gets going.  I have my daycare kids and sometimes their older brother's and sister's too, so, that paycheck is what I use to get my kids school clothes and supplies.  It is just a week before school starts and we shop like crazy to get it all done in one weekend.

Even though I was tired, I got up this morning at 5:00 so I could put a load of laundry in before church.  I started my coffee and was sitting on my sofa when I decided not to go to church, or start on the house and laundry right away.

I just put my head back and dozed a little, drank a little coffee, and got a little inspired.  I really needed that and feel so much better.  After looking at all the magazines, I got excited about redecorating my Entryway Shelf

when I realized that I haven't even posted what I have had up for the past month or so.  I really love my tray (I also have one with roosters).  I had my eye on it for quite sometime at Michael's.  Then one day, I went in and they were 80% off - YIPPEE!!  I was so happy, I bought both for under $10.00.

Isn't is pretty?

I also go a few bottles and some pretty stones (everything 80% off).  In the morning, I really enjoy the light hitting all the pretty colors.

Did I mention flowers too?  I have to admit, I went a little crazy.  Now, the pretty white vase, I made by hot gluing a dollar store vase to a dollar store candle stick and painting it a glossy white.  I wrapped some twine and tied on this pretty key.  It was on clearance from the jewelry section.

I have really enjoyed this, but, I am ready to start something different.  I hope you all stay tuned to see what is next.

Have a great week.

January 2013 Entryway Shelf

Well everyone, January is almost done.  I was getting ready to take my January decor down and remembered that I didn't even take a picture, so, here it is:

Sticks from my yard - ha ha.

The snowflake garland (I got a package of 10 at The Dollar Tree) spelled January.

I just did a very simple vignette this time.  I am ready for Valentines decor now.

Believe

Boy, am I behind.  It seems like it was just Thanksgiving, and, I was thinking we have an extra week this year.  Yeah right.  Where did it go?  Well, one week went with my softball girl to Cali for a tournament.  This past weekend, I was making tamales for a fund raiser and next weekend she has another tournament.  Don't these people do Christmas?  Anyway, here is my humble beginning:

This year, It all started with this little sign.  I got it this past summer for .75 cents and fell in LOVE with it.  It was already white and the only thing I could think was, "who would get rid of something this cool?"

What comes to mind when I see Believe?  Santa.  So, I gathered up my Santa's and came up with this.

It's just not complete without a sleigh.

I don't know, Santa's head on a platter?  Too creepy?

Well, that's it.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  Do you have a theme?  What started yours?

Halloween Entryway Shelf 2012

Happy Tuesday everyone.  Boy, I am behind.  I just got my Halloween decorations down from the attic this past Saturday.  With all the activities and church, I just didn't get a chance to decorate until yesterday and today.  This is what I am doing for my entryway shelf.

I just love those plastic skeletons.  When my oldest daughter, Lee, was little, she used to carry one around with her like a baby (she never was a baby doll girl).  I am still a little concerned?!

I put a skull, from The Dollar Store, in my lantern and draped it with cheese cloth.

This in one of my Halloween Bottles from last Halloween. Go here to see how to make them.

Everything, with the exception of the skull plate (Target) and cheese cloth, came from The Dollar Store.  I really liked the skelleton garland.

Happy Halloween!

Summer Entryway Shelf

Wow, summer is in full force here in Arizona. This week, temperatures will be in the 110 to 114 degree range.  I think it is safe to say, it is HOT.  I know I am a little late with my summer entryway shelf, but, here it is.  I still don't think it is done, so, I may tweak here and there.

Eggs, or bird?  I'm leaning more towards the little birdie.

I am still embellishing my little birdhouse.   I am, however, digging the little feet on it.  These little houses are so much fun, and, for $1.00 each, you can put them anywhere.

I could not part with my eggs in a nest from Easter.  I know that I will eventually have to take it down -- maybe December -- ha ha.

This is so tweet, I brought it in from outside.

That is the end of my little tour.  I hope you are having a safe and cool summer.
