Mason Jar Treat Boxes

Happy Friday all.  I hope everybody has a great weekend.  I am so excited because we have Fall Break next week and I do not have any little ones.  YEAHHHHHHHHHH.  I wanted to end this week with this fun craft.

I was at a sporting event for one of my kids and was sitting next to a nice lady that had a great magazine.  I was looking through it and went a little GAGA over the Mason Jar Treat Boxes.  She was so nice and gave me the pattern page out of the magazine.  So here is a link to a blog that has a great article about the magazine.  Holiday Crafts 2013

I like this one.....  I am always looking for a way to thank my neighbor.  I have the BEST neighbor in the world.

They are about the size of a medium Mason Jar.  The actual treat box is really small so I think I will enlarge it a little.  I think I will use coffee beans as a filler and nestle a Starbucks gift card in the beans.

Ohhh the possibilities.  Stay tuned because I think I am going to deck these little guys out for the upcoming holidays.

Happy Fall Y'all...
(I have been wanting to say that - hee hee)

One Stamp, Three Cards

I love Halloween -- I think I send more Halloween cards than Christmas cards - ha ha.......

I was at Michael's the other day and found this little beauty in the 2 for $1.50 spot and fell in love (if you can fall in love with a skeleton).  I thought it would be fun to see if I could make three different cards using the same materials.

I like the way they all turned out, what about you?  Which one do you like the best?

Hostess Gift for a BBQ

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all having a great week.  Mine is going by so fast, I can't believe that it is already Friday Monday (wow, where did the weekend go?).  I have had these pictures in my camera since Labor Day.  We were running late (imagine that) when I took them and I know they are not very good -- my apologies.  My family was invited to a BBQ, and, I was told to bring nothing.  I can never go empty handed, so, whipping this up was faster and without having to do a ton of dishes.

For my BBQ sauce, I used my favorite bottled sauce and added a little brown sugar, mustard and splash of vinegar.  I put it in a mason jar and made it pretty.

I took matches from The Dollar Store and covered it with pretty paper.

For the napkin rings, I just cut up a paper towel roll,

and covered it with twine

and a natural fabric.

Put a bow on it and called it done.

I had a cute basket, chalkboard tag and a little bobble to package it up.

I wrapped it all in bandannas (to be used at napkins).

Now, let's eat.........

Just to let you know, it was a fabulous time and the food was amazing!

Birds of a Feather (or Paper)

Oh where, oh where has Miss. Rhonda (that is what my little daycare kiddo's call me) been, oh where, oh where has she been?  I have started so many drafts trying to explain why I was away for so long, but, they were really boring and depressing (my father-in-father passed away during this time).  So, trying to keep this short, this is just a little of what was going on.  We have four vehicles.  At one point, three of the four were out of service.  It was a little tricky tyring to coordinate rides.  I remember my son walking home from work and my daughter being the last one picked up from practice quite a few times -- that was fun.  While we were getting the vehicles running, my washing machine, hot water heater, and freezer (very stinky) went out within a three week period.  Oh, and we had a planned trip to Oklahoma for a softball tournament - we rented a van to get us there.  We spent the first night in the stairwell during the second tornado to hit Oklahoma City this past summer.  That was terrifying after driving through Moore.  Did I mention that my camera quite working the night before we left for Oklahoma, so, I didn't even get any pictures.  Boy, I feel so much better getting it all out, but, as my mom used to say, "excuses are like bottoms and they all smell bad."  So, let's just say that I was too busy feeling sorry for myself letting life get in the way.  Now, to make myself feel better, I did craft a little.

I got this cute little craft book at Target for the kiddo's.  I only had one little one and needed a little something to do over the summer.  We had a great time making these and I wanted to share it with you.

I had all the supplies you need on hand:  an empty cereal/cracker box, colored paper clips, pretty scrapbooking paper and some double sided tape.

You just draw a bird form (or, can you say duck?!) on the cereal box and cut it out.

Fold your scrapbooking paper in half and trace your cut-out on the fold (so you have two connected birds).

Add your double sided tape, and

attach your paper clips legs.

Fold the two wrong sides of the bird together and there you have it.  To get the bird to stand, you do have to work with the paper clips a little.

They were so easy and cute, I made a few more........

This is definitely a fun craft for kids, and me.

Happy Crafting.

Feel Better

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all feeling well.  Remember last week?  All of my kiddos were ill, so, I had a little free time and crafted away.  Well this week, I paid for it.  I was very busy with little ones that were used to being home and held by mommy, and, I was not feeling well.  I really don't like having a cold.  There is a lot going around, and, I am not the only casualty.  One of my friends caught a bug too, so, I made this for her:

I started with this (even sick, you need chocolate - he he).  I also included tea, honey, can of soup, and magazines.

I have a few of these, soda carriers from the corner convenience store, and I have always wanted to find a use for them.  I hate to waste such a cool container.

I prettied things up a bit by putting the soup in a canning jar.  I added pretty paper to the top.

Added cool labels.

I had this cute little note pad.

Added some raffia and pretty scrapbook paper.

This is a homemade tea mix.

Crackers for some soup.

I got these cute tissues at the Dollar Store.

Ta Da!!

A nice little care package for someone you love, and, re purpose something you would normally throw out.

Stay Well.
Rhonda
