Mason Jar Easter Baskets

I was so very excited about these little cuties.  I saw them in a book years ago and always wanted to make them.  They are perfect for my few special friends.

You start with the smallest mason jar (jam size), ribbon, and a needle and thread.  I like the 1 1/2 in. ribbon best, but, I used up to 2 1/2 inch ribbon because that is what the Dollar Tree had.  They have the cutest Easter ribbon for only $1.00.  Cut the ribbon a little larger than the jar lid and take out the wire.  Some wire, I had to cut out, but, it still looked good.

You hot glue the ribbon all the way around the lid.  It will overlap just a little.

Then you take a neddle and thread (with a knot in the end) and make a running stich all the way around the ribbon.

Pull gently on the thread to gather it into a pretty ruffled circle on top, or a yo yo thing.

This is one with small ribbon, I like it best.

To make the handle, you just cut the length you need and run between the lid and the band.  Tie it on top and you are done.

There is my little bunny girl .........

I really like the way they turned out.  If you don't want to make the yo yo thing on top, you can always use paper with a pin wheel or something too.

Happy Easter.

Rhonda
